Junior Hunting Day
September 17, 2005

The Northwest Connecticut Sportsman’s Council sponsored their sixth Junior Hunting Day held in Western Connecticut on September 17th. Our sincerest thanks go out to the Torrington Fish and Game Club, on Weed Road in Torrington, Connecticut, who hosted the event. The club grounds were superb, and all of the club facilities were made available for our use. To date we have helped train over 300 young hunters in safe hunting practices. The instruction and experience gained at this event makes these junior hunters a welcome addition to our sporting fields of the future.

Junior Hunting Day provides Connecticut-licensed junior hunters an opportunity to hunt pheasant in an educational, in the field format. Each of the junior hunters is provided the opportunity to hunt over trained dogs in a controlled instructional environment. All junior hunters are accompanied by experienced, licensed hunters during each phase of the event.
